58 ALS 4.0 P R O D U C T M A N U A L EN 5.7 Conveyor Belt Replacement & Tensioning NOTE It is important that all conveyor belt rollers be cleaned and squared prior to starting adjustments. 5.7.1. Conveyor Belt Removal & Installation Step 1 – Loosen Tail Pulleys and put slack in the belt Step 2 – Unbend Lacing Rod and Pull it out of the belt. Step 3 – Remove the belt Step 4 – Thread the belt the same as the previous belt was threaded Step 5 – Pull the ends of the belt together, aligning the lacing Step 6 – Install the rod that connects the lacing (Figure 167) Figure 167 NOTE Use clamps and/or vice grips to hold position while threading. Step 7 – Bend the lacing rod end to keep it from sliding out Step 8 – Tension and square tail pulleys to pull up slack on the bottom Step 9 – Ensure belt does not slip with a light load of 10 – 15 lbs NOTE When the belt is tracking straight observe it for 15 minutes and then stop adjusting. 5.6 InkJet Printer The inkjet printer heads should always be kept clean. Clean them daily with a soft brush that has been dipped in approved cleaner fluid. Also be sure to flush the print nozzles with cleaner fluid if the printer is not used for an extended period (more than 12 hours). 5.6.1 Flush print nozzles Step 1 – Turn the ink supply unit OFF Step 2 – Carefully unscrew and remove the ink pick-up from the ink bottle/container Step 3 – Put the ink pick-up into a cleaner bottle/ container and secure it (Note: the cleaner will become slightly discolored from ink on the pick-up) Step 4 – Turn the ink supply unit ON. Step 5 – Using a waste container, press and hold the print head's flush valve until cleaner fluid can be seen entering the waste container. Step 6 – Select the flush function from the control unit and flush the print head with cleaner. 5.6.2 Start-up after Flush Step 1 – Reconnect the print head to the ink supply unit and that the ink pick-up is secured on the ink bottle/ container. Step 2 – Turn ink supply unit ON. Step 3 – Use the print head's two-way flush valve to flush the print head with ink. Stop when ink can be observed exiting the flush valve. Step 4 – Use the flush function in the control unit to flush the print head's nozzles with ink.
