Figure 145 L1 & L2 Clamps: On the back of the saw cabinet, there are 2 sets of grease blocks, one for the L1 Clamp bearings, and one for the L2 Clamp bearings. Each set has 4 fittings (8 total). Figure 146 T1 Bearings: There are 2 grease fittings at the back of the head (as shown in the picture on the right) and 2 more at the front (4 total). Figure 147 5.2 Cleaning Clean sawdust out of the machine at the end of each shift of operation. The L1 & L2 assemblies, emitters, receivers, and shafts (Section 5.1.2) should receive special attention during each saw cleaning. Following this instruction will insure the lumber feeding system operates smoothly. Each can be cleaned using a vacuum. ! CAUTION Use a vacuum to do this to avoid the intense dust hazard from using compressed air in the confined space of the machine. ! CAUTION Pay particular attention to the belt drives (L1 and L2) and the T-axis linear bearings. Sawdust will accumulate on the T-axis bearings and will cause damage to the bearings if they are not kept clean. ! CAUTION Pay special attention to the top of the Z-axis bearings, around the Z axis actuator (on top of the head assembly), the tops of the linear bearings on the L drives, the B1 homing slot (if the saw was equipped with a bevel axis) and the T1 spur and rack gear assembly. 5.3 Machine Lubrication See the included maintenance log for lubrication intervals (Appendix A). This section includes the locations where grease will be added per the maintenance intervals. Use NLGI 2 LITHIUM based grease. ! CAUTION DO NOT use greases that contain graphite or carbon particles or fibers of any type. Use only small amounts of grease (1 pump) at each location to avoid damage to the seals. There are 38 grease fittings on the saw, outfeed and trash conveyor system. If the saw is equipped with an Automated Infeed there are 16 additional fittings (for a total of 54). The following Figures will help in finding the location of all the grease fittings.
