Use a carpenter's square on the outfeed side of the conveyor to check timing by laying the square on top of the conveyors. 6. From the "Calibration" menu, touch "Calibrate Conveyors". NOTE The chain should move slowly until the sensors on the outfeed side of the machine see the dogs and stop the chains. 7. Use a carpenter's square to verify the alignment. If the dogs are not aligned, the chain timing sensor on the outfeed side needs to be adjusted. Loosen the jam nut and adjust the sensor position by the amount of the misalignment. 8. Recalibrate the chains and check the alignment. Repeat until the dogs are aligned (Step 1-6). 5.12. Adjusting Head 2 and Head 4 Pivot Points ! CAUTION No mechanical adjustments should be made without first contacting an Alpine Equipment Technical Support. All dimensions given are reference dimensions for starting the pivot point process. 1. The pivot point locations are critical to ensure cutting accuracy. The center of the angle shaft is marked with the pivot point. The two critical measurements are: • The reference vertical distance from the top of the Material Conveyor chains to the pivot point is 5-3/8". • The reference horizontal distance from the cutting edge of the blade to the closest edge of the motor mount plate is 2-15/16". 2. Call Alpine Equipment Technical Support and provide the measurements made in Step 1. RAISING THE PIVOT POINT DISTANCE 1. Loosen the lower linear bearing attach plate jam nuts. 2. Tighten each upper linear bearing attach plate jam nut 1/4 turn or less until the correct measurement is obtained. Be sure that each jam nut is turned the same number of turns. 5.10. Adjusting the E-Stop Cable A properly tensioned E-stop cable will trip the E-Stop switch when it is pulled 8-12" from its rest position in the mid-section of the saw. If not, follow the steps to adjust the E-Stop cable. TO ADJUST THE E-STOP CABLE 1. Remove the cover on the reset box. 2. Standing at the rear of the machine, loosen the right hand E-stop adjust eyebolt jam nut. 3. Turn the tensioning nut until the internal switch is centered in the cam (Figure 67, 68). 4. Retighten the jam nut (Figure 67). 5. Replace the cover and tighten the screws. Timing the Material Conveyor Chains The Material Conveyors are in time when both Material Conveyor dogs pick up a board from the infeed load position at the same time. To time the Material Conveyors: 1. Turn the Mode Switch (Figure 3) switch to SETUP. 2. Manually move both right and left Hold-downs up to approximately 6" height. 3. Manually move both right and left conveyors toward the center of the saw approximately 12" from their rear-most position.
