Re-squaring the Hold-downs NOTE The Material conveyors must be square before the Hold-downs can be squared (Section 5.5). 1. Manually move the Hold-down in so it is close to the Material Conveyor. 2. Jog the Hold-down down until the chain sag of the Hold-down is just below the top of the conveyor chain dogs (Section 4.4.6). 3. Verify that the Hold-down is parallel to the Material Conveyor to approximately 1/16". 4. If the Hold-down is not parallel, loosen the 8 bolts that hold the lower Hold-down to the up/down arms. Push the Hold-down in or out until it is parallel (Figure 61). 3. Place shims under the mounting plates to raise or lower the outfeed side until the Hold-down is level. Move the loosened Material Conveyor in or out by hand until the measurements from the initial check is within 1/16". 3. Retighten the split collar on the drive shaft. 4. Verify that the two measurements from Step 1 are within 1/16". If not, repeat Steps 1 through 3. 5. Recalibrate the Material Conveyor in/out. (Section 4.4.7).
