It is not common that the movable carriage needs to be re-squared. There may be other underlying issues that need to be resolved before attempting to re-square the movable carriage. At the front of the saw, measure the distance between the left-hand Material Conveyor in/out guide tube and the right-hand Material Conveyor in/out guide tube. Take the same measurement at the rear of the saw. The carriage is square when the two measurements are within 1/16". To re-square the movable carriage: 1. Loosen the left-hand Material Conveyor guide- bearing nuts, adjustment screws, and jam nuts. Guide Bearing Frame Tube Guide Bearing Nut Adjustment Screw Jam Nut Figure 63 2. If the carriage is less than 3/16" out of square go to Step 3. If the carriage is more than 3/16" out of square, loosen the carriage drive shaft bearings and lower both drive shafts away from the rack gear. 3. Loosen all four carriage guide-bearing nuts and adjustment screw jam nuts. If the distance measured at the front of the saw is longer than the distance measured at the rear of the saw, go to Step 4. If the distance measured at the rear of the saw is longer than the distance at the front of the saw, go to Step 5. 4. Standing at the rear of the machine, loosen the left outside and the right inside carriage guide bearing adjustment screws. Tighten the left inside and right outside carriage guide bearing adjustment screws until the measurements are equal. Tighten the left outside and the right inside guide bearing adjustment screws until there is 0.020" gap between the guide bearing and the track. Tighten all four carriage guide-bearing nuts and adjustment screw jam nuts. Go to Step 6. Figure 61 5. Tighten the 8 bolts (Figure 61). 6. Recalibrate Hold-down I/O (Section 4.4.8). Figure 62
