59 ALS 4.0 XE P R O D U C T M A N U A L EN 5.5 EXLAR® Actuator Maintenance ! CAUTION Alpine recommends wearing disposable Nitrile gloves when completing the actuator maintenance. The EXLAR actuator will need to be lubricated according to the maintenance interval schedule (Appendix A). To perform maintenance the actuator will need to be removed and moved to a clean location. To grease the components correctly the procedure from the EXLAR Manual Section 3.6 (I-Series Motor Mount Roller Screw Actuators Installation & Service Manual) will need to be followed. Then, the actuator can be re-installed. 5.5.1. EXLAR Actuator Belt Change Step 1 – Click on the Manual icon on the ALS 4.0 main screen. It is the icon with the wrench symbol shown circled in Figure 162. Figure 162 Step 2 – Select the icon (shown with the arrow) and Disable Software Limits as shown in Figure 163. Figure 163 5.4 Automated Infeed There are 4 grease fittings on the bearing block for the printer encoder wheel. The fittings can be accessed from the rear of the machine (4 total). Figure 159 Below the rollcase for the Automated Infeed conveyor there is a driveshaft that powers each of the lumber strands on the Live Deck. On this driveshaft there are a total of 8 bearings that each contain one grease fitting (8 total). Figure 160 There is one grease fitting on each gripper assembly. To access them, make sure each gripper assembly is fully retracted. The fitting will be visible through the access hole at the rear of the machine (4 total). Figure 161
