Fault codes must be found using Alpine Equipment Customer Service troubleshooting tools in order to properly resolve this issue. Axis is blocked Visually inspect A1, T1, Z1, B1 (if equipped) for blockage. Remove blockage and restart homing process. 6.2 Centerline is Off Warped lumber Visually inspect lumber. Re-cut with lumber that is straight. T1 axis homing Measure the centerline using a framing square (Figure 128), the measurement should be 1 ¾ in. from the back fence. Try to home T1. Then, re-calibrate the axis following the instructions in Section 4.7. 6.3 Length is not Correct (The length tolerance of the ALS 4.0 is ± 1/16 in.) Length calibration Check the cut length of the board using a tape measure. Re-calibrate L1 & L2, following the instructions in Section 4.9. L1 & L2 clamps not operating properly The clamp should come down within 1 ¼ in. of the L1 & L2 belts. Confirm that the rod end of the cylinder remains intact. Tighten screws on the cylinder if they appear to have backed out of their holes. Replace cylinder if damaged or inoperable. Check belt tension Section 4.8 covers the belt tensioning procedure. Follow the tensioning procedure, cut a board, and check the length for correctness. Mechanical blockage Visually inspect for mechanical blockage, especially near the LPS sensors. Remove blockage and re-check length. Clean sensors Locate emitters and receivers on L1 & L2 drives. Wipe clean with a cloth, then use glass cleaner on the face of both the emitter and receiver. Wet or icy lumber Visually inspect lumber for dampness or ice. Remove wet or ice covered board from the infeed queue allowing it to dry completely before feeding it into the saw. Low Air pressure (Air pressure should read between 80-90 psi.) Locate the regulator on outfeed of saw near the bottom of the outside of the saw cabinet and check the pressure. Listen for air leaks. Adjust the regulator. If an air leak is found it should be repaired immediately, call Alpine Equipment Customer Service if assistance is required. Worn belts Visually inspect belts for wear or cracking. Rotate belts to even wear, or order new belts from Alpine Equipment Customer Service.
