41 ALS 4.0 XE P R O D U C T M A N U A L EN Step 15 – The A1 axis is now ready to calibrate. Touch the CAL A1 button in the Manual Control Screen. This will tell the program that the A1 axis is properly positioned at its calibration point of 90°. Figure 79 4.6 Calibrate Center of Rotation The width of the Center of Rotation cut must be 15/32" (11.91mm). This dimension is twice the kerf (width of the cut made by the saw blade). Step 1 – Place a 2x4 board (dimensional lumber) across L1 & L2. Step 2 – Engage the L1 & L2 Pushers by pressing the "L1 Pusher In" and "L2 Pusher In" buttons on the Manual Control Screen. Figure 80 Step 3 – Engage the L1 & L2 Clamps by pressing the "L1 Clamp Down" and "L2 Clamp Down" buttons on the Manual Control Screen. Figure 81 Step 4 – Move T1 to "1.75" using the "Move T1" button on the Manual Control Screen. Figure 82 Step 5 – Confirm Z1 is at "0.0". Step 6 – If the saw is equipped with a bevel axis, confirm that B1 is at "0.0". Step 10 – Release L1 Clamp using "L1 Clamp Up" button. Step 11 – Release L1 pusher using "L1 Pusher Out" button. Figure 76 Step 12 – Remove the board from the saw. Step 13 – Check the 90° cut with a framing square, referencing from back fence side of the board. Figure 77 Step 14 – If the cut is square, skip to Step 15. If the cut is not square, determine if the cut is more than or less than 90° by observing the location of the gap next to the blade of the framing square. If the gap is on the inside corner of the square (near the back fence edge of the board), then the cut is more than 90°. Subtract the value that the cut is over 90° from 90 and use the "Move A1" button to correct the angle. If the gap is near the front of the board, away from the inside corner of the square, then the cut is less than 90°. Add the value that the cut is less than 90° to 90 and use the "Move A1" button to correct the angle. Repeat Steps 1-14, using a different value for Step 4. Figure 78
