CAUTION Do not remove these bolts. Figure 33 – Bearing Mounting Bolts Step 5 – Tighten the two 7/8 in. jack bolts on the bearing mounting plate to create a small gap for shim packs. Figure 34 – Bearing Jack Bolts Step 6 – Insert shims to decrease the roller height or remove shims to increase the roller height. ! CAUTION Maintain the same gap thickness on both ends of the machine. 4.2. Remove the roller sprocket The roller sprocket needs to be removed to allow access to adjust roll height Step 1 – Remove the chain (Section 4.1). Step 2 – Remove the sprocket shaft cap by removing the retaining bolt. Step 3 – Remove the sprocket using the two 7/8-9 disassembly threaded holes that are provided in the sprocket. 4.3. Roller Height The roller is set at the factory at 3-15/32" (88 mm) above the tabletop surface. This is the optimal setting for 2x4 trusses. Minor adjustments may be necessary during installation or after significant wear of the gantry roll. The height can be modified by inserting or removing shims above the roller bearings. Optimal pressing is achieved when the Alpine WAVE Plate connectors are fully seated AND the gantry head does not slow down or strain when rolling over them. Follow steps 1- 8 to adjust the roller height: Step 1 – Access the idle bearing by removing the yellow cover. Figure 31 – The Idle Bearing Side Step 2 – Removing the chain cover (Figure 29). Step 3 – Remove the chain and sprocket to access the drive-side bearing (Sections 4.1 and 4.2).
