4 EQUIPMENT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS EN AREA Tells where hazards may occur. HAZARD Tells what the hazard is. SAFEGUARDS Tells how to avoid the hazard. Pinch Points Moving equipment, sliding doors and clamping devices can cause pinch points for operators and maintenance staff. Be careful not to place your hands or fingers in areas labled as pinch points or near moving components that are in operation. Assembly Equipment Crush hazard is present with Alpine assembly systems. Failure to inspect safety systems could increase the probability of a crush hazard occurring. Check equipment brakes regularly to ensure proper operation. Check safety systems regularly (light curtains, safety bars, etc.). Report any safety hazards to your supervisor and/or Alpine. Maintain a Clean Work Area A cluttered/dirty workspace could cause injury to personnel and equipment. Regularly clean work areas to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and those around you. Clean machines as directed in product manuals to maintain safe operational conditions and peak equipment performance. Electrical Equipment High voltage equipment is utilized. Arcing in areas of flammable or combustible materials may occur. Personnel are exposed to high voltage during operation and maintenance. Protection against inadvertent arcing that may cause a fire or explosion is lost if safety circuits are disabled during operation. Loose electrical connections could cause damage to components on your Alpine Equipment. Electrical shock can occur while working in the electrical cabinet. Turn the power supply OFF before working on the equipment. Clean sawdust from cutting equipment regularly. Inspect electrical connections to ensure wires have not become loose or frayed. All electrical components should be grounded properly. Testing may require high voltage to be on, but only as instructed. Equipment is NEVER to be operated with any safety systems disabled. Always use OSHA approved lock-out, tag-out procedures. Never store items in the equipment electrical cabinets. De-energize all circuits before working on electrical systems.
