27 SpeedSet P R O D U C T M A N U A L EN 6. Maintenance ! WARNING Electricity can kill. Prior to performing any work on the SpeedSet, verify that all power to the SpeedSet and the gantry has been turned off following OSHA-approved lockout/tagoutr procedures (OSHA REGULATION 29 CFR 1910.147). ! CAUTION Do not lubricate chain. NOTE The chain has a very low duty cycle and is not under heavy loads. The lubrication already on the chain is sufficient and adding more will attract dust and debris without penetrating deeply enough. 6.1. Chain Tensioning The chain that drives each puck must be kept properly tensioned for accuracy. This adjustment is rarely needed unless the tension has been released for repair. Step 1 – Move the puck to the middle of the table.. See section 3.6. Step 2 – Release the jam nut on the tensioning set screw. Step 3 – Turn clockwise to increase chain tension and counter-clock wise to decrease tension. Step 4 – Adjust until the chain is just able to slide itself back to the center of the track when pushed to the side. ! CAUTION Excessive tension will cause binding or premature wear. Inadequate tension will cause inaccuracy. Step 5 – Retighten jam nut. 6.2. Daily / 8 Hours Maintenance ! WARNING Electricity can kill. Prior to performing any work on the SpeedSet, verify that all power to the SpeedSet and the gantry has been turned off following OSHA-approved lockout/tagoutr procedures (OSHA REGULATION 29 CFR 1910.147). Check for proper operation of all safety devices including the table ESTOP button and limit switch. ! WARNING Repair or replace safety devices if they are not in operating condition. Clean debris from the table top and the chain track. 6.3. Weekly / 40 Hours Maintenance ! WARNING Electricity can kill. Prior to performing any work on the SpeedSet, verify that all power to the SpeedSet and the gantry has been turned off following OSHA-approved lockout/tagoutr procedures (OSHA REGULATION 29 CFR 1910.147). Listen for air leaks and replace any lines, valves, cylinders or fittings that are leaking. 6.4. Quarterly / 480 Hours Maintenance ! WARNING Electricity can kill. Prior to performing any work on the SpeedSet, verify that all power to the SpeedSet and the gantry has been turned off following OSHA-approved lockout/tagoutr procedures (OSHA REGULATION 29 CFR 1910.147). Check both plastic (UHMW) wear parts on the puck bar for excessive wear. See diagram in Section 2.1 for location. If any are worn to the point that the puck is loose or there is metal-on-metal contact between sliding parts, replace plastic parts. They can be replaced by taking off the screw in the center of the puck and the smaller socket cap screw on the opposite end of the puck bar. Vacuum out any electrical panels that contain debris.
