26 SpeedSet P R O D U C T M A N U A L EN 5. Table Homing ! WARNING Do not extend hands, arms or any part of the body into the machine or table while the pucks are setting up, the gantry is moving or the liftouts are activated. Failure to comply with this safety warning may result in a serious injury or fatality. ! CAUTION Make sure the tabletop is clear of all persons, lumber, jig stops and obstructions during the homing process. 5.1. Background The table coordinate system tracks how all the pucks relate to each other in the table. A set of measurements is taken normally only once at the initial installation. This corrects for table installation variation and puck mechanical manufacturing tolerances. The homing location is different for top and bottom pucks, but both have the home location at the zero coordinate. To achieve the most accurate calibration the top pucks are calibrated on the bottom of the table and vice versa. Periodically the table will need to be homed to return the pucks to an accurate position. The homing procedure calibrates the puck coordinate system. NOTE The homing procedure is normally only done when the pucks aren't in the correct positions or if power is lost during a movement. 5.2. Homing Procedure Step 1 – Clear the axis of each puck so it can travel to the table end. Step 2 – On the repair screen, select all pucks that need homing (Section 3.6). Step 3 – Click the Home button, read the warning screen and confirm the pucks on the list are the ones you intend to home. Step 4 – Click "Proceed". Step 5 – Homing will begin and the progress of each puck will show on the screen. Step 6 – Any homing errors will appear in the status box. Typically these are due to debris in the track. Clear debris out and click "Retry". Step 7 – After all pucks are at the home position, walk to each puck and verify there is metal-to- metal contact between the puck bar and end stop screw (Figure 15). If contact isn't made then clean out any debris and retry that puck until it succeeds. Step 8 – Run all pucks in a line with "Quick Check" and visually check that they form a straight line (Section 3.6). NOTE Sometimes the pucks will stick a little at their home positions. If this happens, they can usually be freed by just clicking Move All Selected a few times. NOTE We recommend calling tech support if you are unsure about this procedure. ! CAUTION Once you start homing a puck it must finish FULLY before you run the table again. Failure to fully home the puck will lead to a puck being far out of position. Generally, this will cause the puck to jam at the end of the table requiring calling technical support for extra steps to repair. Figure 15 Puck in Home Position
