24 AutoMill SC Motion Control Upgrade P R O D U C T M A N U A L EN NOTE The calibration procedure for the AutoMill SC Motion Control Upgrade is still the same as the calibration procedure for the AutoMill SC. This section describes the meaning of the software icons that are used on the calibration screens of the AutoMill SC Upgrade. NOTE Once the entire saw has been properly calibrated, it is only necessary to adjust individual axes as they begin to lose calibration. NOTICE Mechanically adjusting/altering the saw will violate the Alpine Equipment Warranty. Do not change any factory settings unless instructed by Alpine Equipment Technical Support. 5.2.1. Calibration Menu To Start the calibration process, from the Main Menu (Figure 21) open click Calibration to open the Calibration Menu (Figure 39 ) Figure 39 Each tile shown on the Calibration Menu (Figure 39) controls an axis of calibration. On each tile there is a colored circle in the top right comer. The color of the circle will indicate the status of each axis. • Red – Axis not homed/not ready for calibration • Green – Axis properly homed/ready for calibration 5. Homing and Calibration 5.1. Homing The AutoMill SC Motion Control Upgrade has a Home System feature in which each moving axis will automatically move to its hard stop in under two minutes. The Home System feature will be prompted each time the saw power is cycled or saw in idle (Sleep) mode. The following message will pop up when after cycling power or powering up (Figure 37) Figure 37 To process click OK to start the homing procedure. In which each axis moves to its hard stop location (Figure 38). Figure 38 Upon completion of the homing procedure the saw program will know the location of each axis, and the saw will be ready for regular operation. NOTE Angles and Carriage have absolute encoder do not use hard-stop homing. NOTE This does not mean re-calibration is required each time the saw power is cycled. The saw retains the position of each axis in the motion controller. 5.2. Calibration Calibration is the process of setting or correcting the located positions of each moving axis based on an unvarying point of measurement. Performing calibration will ensure the AutoMill SC Upgrade is cutting accurately across all possible machine setups.
