Gearmotor Will Not Start Machine is in E-Stop condition All E-Stop Devices Reset E-Stop Switch and safety bars Blown fuse Using the included electrical schematic (Appendix B), locate the fuse locations A qualified electrician can replace the blown fuse Contactor overload Using the included electrical schematic (Appendix B), locate the contactor overload location Press the reset button on the overload If the overload continues to trip, call a qualified electrician to identify the source of the problem No power to smart relay Using the included electrical schematic (Appendix B), locate the Smart Relay location If the smart relay does not turn on, verify the E-Stop push button is not turned on If the Smart Relay still does not turn on, call a qualified electrician to identify the source of the problem 7.2. Rollers Stop Turning, But The Motor Is Still Running Broken chain Check for a broken chain Repair and/or replace the drive chain (Section 5.3) Damaged gearbox Check the gearbox output sprocket if it is rotating or not Replace the gearbox (Section 5.4) Broken key or sprocket Remove sprocket to verify damage to the shaft, key or sprocket (Section 5.5) Replace sprocket if it is needed (Section 5.5) The roll shaft is cracked Remove the sprocket to inspect the shaft Replace the roll. Contact Alpine Technical Support for support 7.3. Connector Plates Are Not Being Seated Lumber thickness is smaller than the gap between the rollers Follow section 5.1 steps to measure the gap between the rollers compared to the lumber thickness Adjust the roller gap to match the lumber thickness (Section 5.1). 7.4. Truss Stops At Connector Plates Roller gap is too large Follow section 5.1 steps to measure the gap between the rollers compared to the lumber thickness Adjust the roller gap to match the lumber thickness (Section 5.1). 7.5. Lumber Is Being Crushed Roller gap is too small Follow section 5.1 steps to measure the gap between the rollers compared to the lumber thickness Adjust the roller gap to match the lumber thickness (Section 5.1). 7.6. Loud Popping Noise Coming From Drive End Of The Machine Drive chain is too loose Check the drive chain tension (Section 6.2) Tighten the drive chain (Section 6.2) ! WARNING Electricity can kill. Prior to performing any work on the RollerPress, verify that all power to the machine has been turned off following OSHA-approved lockout/tagout procedures (OSHA REGULATION 29 CFR 1910.147). ! WARNING For electrical problems, a qualified electrician needs to be contacted to identify the source of the problem and correct it. Failure to follow these precautions could result in a serious injury or fatality.
