20 RollerPress P R O D U C T M A N U A L EN 6.4 Semi-Annual Maintenance Check gearmotor oil level Remove the check level plug on the side of the gear box. The level should be at the bottom of the hole. If not, remove the fill plug and fill with a synthetic extreme pressure gear oil (Lubriplate SPO 244) until the level is at the bottom of the check level hole. Replace the check level plug and fill plug (Figure 16). Change the gearmotor oil if necessary NOTE Under normal operation, it should not be necessary to change the gear oil. If however, it becomes necessary to change the oil, first remove the gearbox drain plug. After the oil has drained out, replace the drain plug. Remove the check level plug and the fill plug. Fill the gearbox with an extreme pressure gear oil (Lubriplate SPO 244) until the oil is at the bottom of the check level hole. Replace the check level plug and fill plug (Figure 17). NOTE Alternatives to ''Lubriplate SPO 244'' are: • Cofran Sintogear 125 (synthetic) • Mobile SHC 629 (synthetic) ! CAUTION Do not mix synthetic oils with mineral based oils. 6.3 Monthly Maintenance Lubricate the roller drive chain. With the machine turned off using the use OSHA-approved lockout/ tagout procedures, liberally apply light machine oil to the roller chain surface. Grease the drive chain tensioner sprocket. Apply two pumps of NLGI Grade No. 2 grease to the grease fitting. Grease the roller end bearings. With the machine running, apply two pumps of NLGI Grade No. 2 grease to the two fittings on each end of the machine. NOTE Do not overlubricate the bearings. Too much lubrication will damage the seals and void the bearing warranty. Figure 17 Gearmotor
