NewNDS2015LumberValueSet (Settings Help) A new NDS_2015lumbervalueset is availableas of 16.02.00inaccordancewiththenewest National Design Standard, ANSI/AWC NDS2015, as referencedby the2015InternationalBuildingandResidentialCodes, and newerstatecodesmodeledafterthem.ThislumbervaluesetincludesthevisuallygradedSouthernPinelumber valuesofSPIBSupplementNo.13(knownas"13B"inthesoftware)plusallotherlumberdesignvaluesfoundin the2005NDSedition. Note: When newer up-to-date building codes are selected, the new NDS_2015 lumber value set is not auto- maticallyapplied,andmayremainsettoeitherNDS05or13Bvalues;therefore,theLumberValueSetfieldinthe JobSettings-AnalysistabmustbemanuallyupdatedtoNDS_2015(Figure-1)ifthisisthevaluesetyoudesire. WhenchoosingtheNDS_2015lumbervalueset withIBC 2015andnewerbuildingcodes, therewillnot beany notesonthedrawingsindicatingthatitwasselected,evenfordesignswithvisuallygradedSouthernPine.This is because it's understood that these building codes reference the NDS 2015 standard and the design values usedforthisvaluesetcomply.SincethevisuallygradedSouthernPinedesignvaluesof13Bandallotherlumber values of NDS05 are the same as those in NDS 2015, their designs also will not indicate any drawing notes whenusedwithIBC2015andothernewerbuildingcodesforthesamereason.Designswitholderbuildingcodes will continuetoshow notes as they havebeendoing. Designs withvisually gradedSouthernPineusingcodes priortoIBC2015shallcontinuetoindicatewhetherNDS05,13B,orthenewNDS_2015valuesetsareselected.
