3 ALS 276 MOTION CONTROL UPGRADE PACKAGE I N S TA L L AT I O N G U I D E EN ALS 276 Upgrade Installation Process NOTE If you do not have an ALS 276 Equipment Manual, call Alpine Customer Service at 800-521-9790 and we will provide a copy. Machine Shutdown Process: 1. Make note of operating condition of machine before installing the upgrade kit 2. Shut down computer 3. Use OSHA approved lock-out-tag-out procedure, turning off all power and air to machine ! CAUTION Allow 5 minutes for all electrical current to drain from capacitors 4. Vacuum inside of cutting cabinet and electrical cabinet Master Controller Installation: NOTE For this section, all processes are performed on master controller unit 1. Disconnect black 220V single phase wires from the front face (marked L and N) of the master controller 2. Disconnect ground wire from front face of master controller 3. Disconnect the Cat 5e network cable 4. Disconnect printer cable from port C1 on master controller 5. Disconnect 25 pin input cable from port C2 on master controller 6. Disconnect fiber optic cables from port Tx and Rx located on bottom of the master controller unit 7. Disconnect male 25 pin output cable from port C5 located on bottom of the master controller unit 8. Remove the master controller unit » 2 screws above unit » 1 screw under unit 9. Install new master controller from retrofit kit » Mounts with 2 screws 10. Connect Cat 5e network cable that was disconnected in step 2 to Ethernet port on new master controller 11. Connect ground wire to power supply terminal marked with ground symbol on the new motion controller Wiring for Master Controller and Keep Alive Circuit: 1. Disconnect 5L1 and 5L2 from line (top) side of LF1 power filter 2. Disconnect wires on load (botton) side of LF1 power filter NOTE Use included orange wire unless otherwise noted 3. Wire L1' (load side of LF1) to L on master controller power supply 4. Wire L2' (load side of LF1) to N on master controller power supply 5. Mount included terminal blocks on DIN rail between CB11 and FU3 (Fig. 1) NOTE Slide FU3 to the right if more space is needed 6. Wire L1 on CB2 to L1 side of terminal block (Fig. 1) 7. Wire L2 on CB2 to L2 side of terminal block (Fig. 1) Fig. 1 L1 from CB2 L1 to LF1 (line side L1) L2 from CB2 L2 to LF1 (line side L2) L1 connections from servo drives L2 connections from servo drives ! CAUTION Alpine Customer Service recommends hiring a qualified electrician to install the motion control upgrade.
