ASCE 7-10 Wind Loading
SOUTHERN PINE
Lumber Values
The anticipated additional change to the
design values of Southern Pine lumber
visual grades is now moving forward.
(These are in addition to the changes
presented earlier this year that went into
effect on June 1, 2012). On September
17, 2012 the Southern Pine Inspection
Bureau (SPIB) proposed new values to the
American Lumber Standards Committee
(ALSC). The SPIB is responsible for
assigning design values for Southern Pine
and the ALSC is responsible for certifying
them as complying with US Dept. Of
Commerce Standard PS20, which is a
condition required by most building
codes (such as sec. 2303.1 of the IBC).
