26 • Parapet: On trusses with raised heels, you can build in a parapet condition to your truss. This parapet can be used to either hide A/C units (on a flat truss, when the A/C unit is located on top of the flat roof), or to hang signage. Additional bracing may be required for parapet conditions, especially in high wind areas. • Cantilevers and Stubs – Two common conditions for trusses are cantilevers (when the truss bottom chord extends beyond the outside wall) and stubs (when there is a jog in the wall or some other reason why the truss would be held back from its original span). • Mansard ends: For storefront signs or just for another look, special mansard jack trusses can be manufactured.
